About the Work
It struck me during three weeks of shooting all over Toronto that bus shelters aren’t only places for the homeless to stand in; they are also virtual stand-ins for them – they are everywhere we look but we seldom even see them. ‘Reflections on a Shelter’ refers not only to the photograph I have donated but also to the entire experience of completing this project.
About the Artist
Brian Deignan is a partner in JNSQ Design. Born in Montreal, he spent over 30 mostly happy years living in the United States and has loved living in Toronto since 2004. Curious by nature, he loves photography because it provides a different way of looking at and seeing the world around him. He would be willing to compromise his politics and vote for anyone who promised to guarantee continued production of 35mm film.
