David Thompson

Untitled

Material: glass
11” × 6 1/2” × 2”

About the Work

I was attracted to glass partly because of its varied applications and partly because of the physicality involved in working with it. When glass is hot, it moves, giving it a sense of life and energy. It can be shaped into the most rigid forms you can imagine or works that seem to be made of liquid. This duality fuelled my interest to delve deep into the material. I use glass in conjunction with illustrative techniques to create strong visual works that reference architecture and graffiti and attempt to reflect a sense of energy and intimacy.
