About the Work
Gardens work as perimeters, often defining what is mine and not yours. This seems particularly pertinent when considering issues of homelessness. The text embossed on the inside conveys aspects of landscape reflected on the exterior.
About the Artist
Mary McKenzie is a Toronto based artist who has shown locally, nationally and as far away as Korea. Short-listed for the Royal Bank New Painter Award for Central Canada in 2002, Mary is currently attending the School of Crafts and Design at Sheridan College, majoring in ceramics. She received her bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta.
