About the Work

All my life I’ve lived in Parkdale and over the years have seen it develop into a welcoming and vibrant community. Wanting to create a piece that showed how everyone was welcome, I chose to depict all the different types of housing that can be found in the area. I wanted to show Edmond Place being created, proudly taking its place in our community.

About the Artist

Mary D’Cruz is a Grade 12 student at Parkdale Collegiate Institute. She has loved art being creative all her life and really appreciates how many artists live and work in Parkdale. She learned to do acrylic transfers when she took an art course at parc taught by Shaun Downey, an incredible Toronto artist and teacher. Mary aspires one day to be an artist or to have a career that involves design and creativity.
