About the Work
Nest is a reflection on the meaning of 'home'. The nest shape serves to both envelope and protect as well as delineate its exterior boundaries. It is a portable home, created because of the basic need for protection and familiarity.
About the Artist
Rachel Robichaud is in her final year in the Craft and Design Program at Sheridan College, majoring in glass. Her interest in glass was sparked while using glass containers to house photographic elements while acquiring her B.F.A. in photography. For Rachel, glass is an ideal medium with which to pursue her interest in the idea of containment and context. Whether creating sculptural forms or functional objects, glass is a material that offers endless possibilities for expression.
