About the Work
For Guardians, I began thinking about my upbringing and how my parents created a great home for me. It is important for children to have a shelter over their heads in which they can learn and are protected.

About the Artist
Brittany Lauren was born in Toronto, and first became interested in visual arts early in high school. Wanting to explore different mediums, Brittany attained a certificate in Art Fundamentals at Sheridan College and is now in her final year in their Crafts and Design Program, where she is learning about self-expression through blown and kiln cast glass. Upon completing her final year Brittany hopes to continue her studies and expand her knowledge within the arts.
Brittany's inspiration comes from everyday life and the environment that surrounds her. Daily interactions with people and ongoing life experiences are expressed in her work through symbolic imagery, which also connects her work to her personal beliefs and values.
Brittany enjoys working with kiln casted glass for its smooth and workable surfaces. The process of enameling on glass allows her to transform casted glass that she herself has fused into another realm of visual imagery.
