About the Work
A shell: a rigid covering that envelops an object; the housing or outer covering of something, or someone.
A shell can be very fragile but nevertheless can also be a heavy weight on one's shoulders.
About the Artist
Sonya Labrie is currently in her graduating year at the Craft and Design Program at Sheridan College, majoring in glass. Her current focus is the creation and design of functional wearable art, as well as blown, kiln cast glass sculptural work. With a background in painting and drawing, surface design and texture has always been a venue for her explorations and creations.
