Refuge
oil on canvas
11" x 14"
About the Work
Refuge attempts to convey the encounter with the spiritual self through contemplation and nature's inspiration. A flower-like form, in a protective manner, envelops and hovers over a female figure in a symbolic representation of an escape into a unique, imagined world that can provide temporary shelter from the chaos and turmoil of the everyday.
This particular piece aims to revisit nature and place an emphasis on emotion as a significant guiding force in the aesthetic experience.
