About the Work

As a child, I longed for a place I could call my own. Anything nearby became building material for an exciting new dwelling. My 'shelter' was a place I had made myself, not my actual home. Forts, huts, and caves gave birth to some of my coziest memories, and this piece commemorates the simple idea of making any place your own.

About the Artist

Chelsea Uphoff was born in Windsor, Ontario. She has been creating in many forms since a young age. Showing an aptitude for craft, she was accepted to the School of Crafts and Design at Sheridan College. Here, she is currently studying hot and cold glassforming, experimenting with glass techniques and mixed media.
