Catherine Shea

Colorfall Part 5

glazed acrylic on canvas; 20" x 24"

About the Work

When contemplating the causes of homelessness, the image of the Tsunami kept coming to mind. In a moment, people's lives and homes were swept away. An image of a freeform wave resulted. The dark background coupled with a wave of intense and varied color produces a strong emotional image. The use of texture and glaze produces a 'raw edge' look and feel that represent the realities of homelessness and the eff ect it has on society as a whole.
