About the Work
The forest is filled with homes, if we'd only take the time to notice them. This ceramic piece captures one of those homes, buried in oak leaves, coloured by the fall. The fragility of the place is represented by the fragility of the ceramic leaves, especially the broken bits that lie beside the log, while the strength of the place is represented by the solidity of the log and ground. A tiny portrait of a treasured place.
About the Artist
Peter French is an artist, designer and educator working in both traditional and digital media. Educated in photography, fine art and design he spent twenty years in ad agencies and design studios before becoming a full time digital media teacher. His work is informed by his love of traditional materials, the power of imagery and the poetic and by his desire to find beauty in the world around us.
