About the Work

My family homes have been in the centre of the city for five generations. The narrative of my family story influences my approach to my artwork. Through my interest in women's roles and aging, the preservation of architecture and green spaces, education of the young child and the intertwining of all artistic disciplines, I assimilate the influences and teachings of the previous generations. My drawings and paintings express a synthesis between the visual arts and the dance modalities shown by the quality of line and form in the composition. One art form enhances the understanding and appreciation of the other.

About the Artist

Elizabeth Greisman was born in Toronto and has a strong feeling of home and familiarity in our changing city as her family has lived in the same neighbourhood for four generations. Elizabeth draws and paints images in oils of the Canadian landscape, dancers in mid-phrase and women in the prime of their life whose job it is to speak publicly for us. All of Elizabeth's work represents different obsessional areas, delineated by the common thread of personal inquiry.
