About the Work
A Good Rule is my interpretation of the Food Bank. Continuing on the theme of that which has been discarded, this piece has been engineered out of objects that have been rescued from dumpsters and garbage heaps, most notably artifacts from demolished kitchens and abandoned appliances. A Good Rule asks the question 'What is the measure of man? Is it gauged by the amount he provides for those in his closest circle, or his ability to provide for the masses, thus dispensing for his own family?
About the Artist
Lisa Dooher is a self-taught carpenter and glass artist who owns and operates Mrs. Murphy's Fine Furniture, a small custom carpentry shop in Toronto. Her work has been featured in The Globe and Mail, Wish Magazine, at the Gladstone Hotel and most recently, on The Mom Show on Life Network. Although her core business is custom built-in carpentry, Lisa's real passion comes from creating and designing with a mix of new and reclaimed building materials.
